Remote cleaning is a growing work-from-home-based business opportunity.
Your cleaning providers are your secret weapon in this home-based business opportunity.

What do you do when you’re a parent laid off from your corporate job? When you want flexibility and financial freedom to focus on your family? If you’re looking for a work-from-home-based business opportunity, this short interview is for you.

Meet Evan Bates and Miranda Pham

This was where Evan Bates found himself a few years ago. Along with his fiancée, Miranda Pham, he wanted to build a business to provide for his family. But they didn’t just want to focus on their current needs. They wanted to provide a secure future and set a model for entrepreneurship for their daughter, too.

The more traditional jobs for work-from-home moms didn’t really tick off the items on their checklist. So they kept looking. And then Evan came across Home Service Academy. This model fit his criteria for a work-from-home-based business opportunity that could provide a secure future for his family. Better yet, it would be a flexible business he and Miranda could run from home in their spare time.

Unlike starting a typical in-person cleaning service, they didn’t even need to provide their own supplies or skimp until they could afford them.

If you’re not sure how running a cleaning business can possibly be a remote business, check out my interview with Home Service Academy program co-creator Johnny Robinson.

Hi, Evan!

Never touch the cleaning supplies yourself in this remote business.

Can you tell us where you were in your lives before you joined Home Service Academy?

Before joining HSA, we were juggling a lot… new parenthood, job uncertainty, and the desire for a more flexible lifestyle. I had just been laid off from a corporate role and was searching for a path that would allow me to support my family while being more present at home.

How did you decide to join Home Service Academy?

I came across HSA during that transition and was drawn to the simplicity of the model and the real success stories from other families. It felt like a business that could grow with us and that we could actually launch quickly without a massive upfront investment.

What did you hope you would accomplish from joining the program?

Freedom and stability. I wanted to build something sustainable that wouldn’t just replace my income but allow us to design a life around our family’s needs and values.

Do you feel Home Service Academy helped you meet your goals?

Absolutely. Not only did we launch our business quickly, but we also built it around our lifestyle, not the other way around. We’re profitable, and more importantly, we’re in control of our time.

What do you believe they do especially well?

HSA excels in breaking down what feels like an overwhelming process into bite-sized, actionable steps. The coaching and community are top-tier. Accountability and support are baked into the experience.

What do you think they could do better?

If anything, I’d say building out more resources for hiring and managing a team as you scale would be helpful. That’s a natural next step for many of us after the initial launch.

Did you feel prepared to start your business when you finished your training?

Yes, 100%. We had our systems, pricing, website, and strategy dialed in. We went live confidently, knowing we weren’t going in blind.

What is your Big Why in your business?

Our “Big Why” is family. We want to model entrepreneurship for our kids, build generational freedom, and be the kind of present parents we didn’t always have growing up.

The key to success in this work-from-home-based business opportunity is finding quality providers.
Quality service providers can make your business reputation gleam!

How long was it before you booked your first client?

Within the first week of going live, we landed our first job. That early momentum was a huge confidence boost.

Has your business evolved since you started it?

Definitely. We’ve gone from hustling to get clients ourselves to building a team and creating systems that allow us to step back and work on the business, not just in it.

Have you earned back your investment in the program?

Yes, several times over. The ROI on this program has been incredible.

Can you tell us a little about your family?

We’re a family of four—two girls, ages 10 and 5 months. Life is full, but that’s exactly why we needed a business that could flex around our priorities.

Has your family’s life changed due to what you learned in HSA?

Absolutely. I now take my daughter to school, help with homework, and support my fiancée with our newborn. We have more peace in our home and more hope for what’s ahead.

How well does your remote cleaning business fit with your family life?

It fits beautifully. Because everything is remote and systemized, we can manage things from anywhere, even while holding a baby or watching our oldest at dance practice.

About how many hours do you work (individually or as a couple)?

We each put in around 10–15 hours a week, depending on what’s needed, and those hours are flexible.

How many contractors or employees do you have at the moment?

Right now, we work with 12 regular cleaners who handle client jobs, and we’re expanding.

What does a typical day or week look like for you?

Most mornings start with a quick check of our leads and any urgent client needs. We handle team communication, check for reviews or reschedules, and work on marketing or hiring as needed.

Have you encountered any problems in your business that HSA didn’t prepare you for?

Every business has its curveballs. Things like flaky providers or payment processing hiccups. But HSA gave us the tools and mindset to solve those problems as they came.

Is there ongoing support from HSA? If so, what does that look like?

Yes, and it’s phenomenal. Weekly coaching calls, private community access, and direct help when we need it, it’s more than a course, it’s a business family.

Do you plan to scale your business as your children grow older?

Definitely. As our kids become more independent, we plan to expand into new markets and possibly build out a second brand. The beauty of this model is that it can grow with you.

Thanks, Evan!

Conclusion: Is This Work-From-Home-Based Business Opportunity For You?

You’ve seen how Home Service Academy helped Evan and Miranda create a remote cleaning business that provides their family with freedom, financial security, and flexibility. But is this a possibility for you?

If you’re wondering, HSA has a free remote cleaning mini-course that will give you enough information to get started. You won’t have access to the incredible coaching or online community, though. But it will give you a taste of what the full program offers. Moreover, you’ll be able to tell if this work-from-home-based business opportunity might work for you and your family, too!
